Young Sustainable Development Leaders Program
On September 25th 2015, 193 UN members signed an agreement to adopt new Sustainable Development Agenda 2030. Global Shapers Ulaanbaatar Hub will be taking its part as a community to improve the state of the World. Based on our experience and network we are the Hub will be undertaking an Awareness Promotion Campaign relating to SDG’s aimed at young people, through three key streams of awareness promotion actions. As Global Shapers of Ulaanbaatar Hub, we feel the need to take part in this global initiative and improve the state of the world starting with Mongolia. Based on a preliminary study by the Hub, it has been identified that there are numerous endeavors being undertaken in Mongolia at various levels in relation to SDGs, with even more projects, surveys, actions initiated, funded and carried out in different forms and scopes under the more generic topic of sustainable development. Road Safety Education Toolkit Project
This project is an extension of “UBeSAFE” road safety awareness campaign designed for secondary school students and teachers and aims to advance their knowledge in road safety. The project is initiated by Global Shapers Ulaanbaatar Hub in collaboration with Asian Development Bank and partnership with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Road and Transportation as well as the Traffic Police of Mongolia. 1.25 million people die globally due to road traffic accidents with 60% of these deaths taking place in Asia and the Pacific. Especially, Mongolia ranks No. 7 for the highest number of road deaths for an ADB developing member countries. Therefore youth have to be involved in the solution to this alarming trend. Road Safety toolkits have been developed and distributed in both developed and developing countries across the globe. Youth have been key partners in developing these toolkits, thus Global Shapers Ulaanbaatar Hub is taking the initiation on designing and providing educational toolkit on the topic of road safety to secondary school students and teachers in Mongolia. Media Excellence Fellowship
Media Excellence Fellowship is a 5-month program designed for young professionals who are interested in media and journalism to offer them real-life experience and improve their skills in cross-format journalism through rigorous internship experience. Fellows will rotate through four prominent news and media companies in Mongolia for the duration of the program, gaining exposure to different aspects of journalism and are expected to make their projects their full-time work during the term of the fellowship. Eight young professionals will be selected in this first-ever fellowship program. Fellows are individuals who have a strong desire to pursue a career in media and don’t necessarily need to possess professional education in the sector. However, applicants must be either currently pursuing or have obtained their bachelor’s degree with no more than three years of postgraduate professional work experience. The program consists of three major types of activities—internship, workshops, and overseas fellowship. All of these activities will be oriented towards practical approaches and solutions related to journalism, not only abstract academic formulations.

Mongolian Economic Forum – Mongolian Dream Panel
Global Shapers Ulaanbaatar Hub together with Mongol Muruudul Club organized “Mongolian Dream” panel at Mongolian Economic Forum in 2016. The goal of the panel was to bring light in youth and to encourage Mongolians to have a common goal that could lead to Mongolian Economic development. Global Shapers Ulaanbaatar Hub together with Mongol Muruudul Club organized “Mongolian Dream” panel at Mongolian Economic Forum in 2016. “Mongolian Dream” panel was one of the most sought after panels with highest number of attendees. Global Dignity Day takes place in schools on the third Wednesday of October each year. It is carried out in the Middle East, Europe, Asia, Oceania, Africa and the Americas. Thousands of volunteers act as guides and facilitators, leading the students in a conversation about dignity. Global Shapers Ulaanbaatar Hub together with Young Global Leaders carry out this project every year in October. Global Dignity Day takes place in schools on the third Wednesday of October each year. Young Global Leaders (YGL) and Global Shapers Ulaanbaatar Hub successfully carried out Global Dignity Day in seven secondary schools around Ulaanbaatar during month of October. 2016 was our 7th year participating in Global Dignity Day and we are proud to contribute and continue to reach more citizens every year. “UBeSafe” road safety awareness campaign
“UBeSAFE” road safety awareness campaign is a project initiated by Global Shapers Ulaanbaatar Hub in collaboration with Asian Development Bank and partnership with the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Road and Transportation as well as the Traffic Police of Mongolia. The project also aims to improve the road safety management and operations to enhance the quality of life and to support sustainable socioeconomic development in Mongolia. Mongol Ger project took off when Ulaanbaatar Hub shaper Bat-Erdene's tweet went viral becoming one of the most shared tweets in Mongolia with over 1,700 retweets. "Mongol Ger" project aims to bring nomadic culture and vital life skills to urban school children. Through this project middle and high school students in 60 public schools received Gers and selective course on Mongol ger and its features. “Mongol Ger” project was realized with the support from Oyu Tolgoi LLC, Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and Institute of Engineering and Technology of Mongolia.
